The island of Cyprus has very different and highly interesting landscapes and habitats for humans and animals with rich flora. From the coastal regions up to the Troodos Mountains, with Mount
Olympos at 1,950 m above sea level, there is much to see and do.
Following Cyprus' accession to the EU, many habitats have also been designated as EU Nature 2000 protected areas. As tourism is one of the main sources of income for the Republic of Cyprus, the
management of these protected areas and the sustainable use of these protected areas, including through tourism, will be one of the most important tasks in the coming years. Many NGOs, including
BirdLife Cyprus, therefore need our support to ensure compliance with EU environmental standards for the conservation of protected areas and for Cyprus' flora and fauna.
Supporting these NGOs is my concern, in this gallery I show interesting areas, which I visit again and again during my photo tours.
