Canon DSLR Cameras allow video footage with Magic Lantern software of the highest quality. In recent years, each new digital camera from Canon allows the production of video clips with higher quality, easier handling, auto focus and more. What remains is the issue of the finished video clips as H. 264 MPEG4 or AVCHD file.
The CMOS sensor of a Canon EOS 6d, EOS 5d Mark II or Canon EOS 5D Mark III is up to 20 times larger than the sensors of a video camera and offer optimum recording conditions and post-processing options in all areas.
My video documentaries have mostly our Environment and the nature of the Cyprus island as a theme. I use for recording scenes my Canon DSLR Equipment cameras and Lenses and one Canon professional camcorder. Mostly the Canon EOS 5D Mark III DSLR camera in combination with Magic Lantern firmware is used. For Video I use all my available lenses from 14 mm to 840 mm focal length, the Video Footage material recorded similar as when taking photos, RAW video in highest quality.

In combination with the Canon 5D MKIII video recordings, Magic Lantern allows a 3 x crop factor with lossless RAW images and with a 14 bit color depth.
In addition, I use the professional Canon video camcorder XA 20 Pro. This camcorder is suitable with its focal length range from 26 mm to 580 mm particularly to the shots of moving subjects such as birds in flight.
The XA 20 Pro camcorder delivers full HD recording with maximum 50 fps in the AVCHD format is processed very effectively when the video editing with the shots of the Canon 5D3 let.
Edit my video recording is carried out in two different workflows. The RAW video files are first cast with Magic Lantern editors in RAW or DNG formats and then edited with software from the Adobe® Creative cloud.
Up to the final video clip, software such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro used. Also I often use the LRTimelapse Pro software to on my Windows 10 Pro 64 bit system the clips in ProRes Codex to render.
The archiving is done in minimal compression as a ProRes444 10 bit or DNxHQR 10 bit files for later use. Files for YouTube or Vimeo with appropriate formats are then made from these files.

My Basic Equipment for DSLR video recording is the haevy Tripod Berlebach UNI 22 c and Berlebach Pegasus Ball head. According to the situation on Site I use the cameras EOS 5d3 or EOS 1D4 with the super telephoto lens EF 600 / f4, partially with 1,4x ore 2x Teleconverters.
